Ivan Maes works as a Tax Advisor.

Education
Ivan attained a Master of Law diploma at Antwerp University in 1985. Two years later he took a postgraduate qualification in Fiscal Science from the Fiscal College in Brussels (now the HUB).

Experience
Ivan started his career as a legal specialist with Fiduciaire J. van Breda & Co of Antwerp in 1985. Having attained a supplementary diploma in Taxation he became more involved in fiscal cases. In 1989 he continued his career as a Tax Lawyer with the international consultancy bureau Fiduciaire Moores Rowland, where he discharged a number of functions within the Fiscal Department at Brussels. This firm merged with Deloitte in 1998, where Ivan became Tax Director, taking joint responsibility for the Antwerp fiscal department.
In 2001 he became a partner and Business Manager with Fimico Tax & Legal, an accountancy and fiscal/legal study bureau with branches in Antwerp, Brussels and Dendermonde.
In that role he advised a range of family businesses, growth companies, wealthy individuals and professionals. As well as his general fiscal practice Ivan takes an interest in the various multidisciplinary approaches to capital planning. Ivan became a Vandelanotte partner in 2010 following the merger with Fimico.

Teaching and Publications
During his career Ivan has delivered a range of lectures on fiscal and legal topics at VOKA Antwerp and VOKA Mechelen, and has appeared as a guest lecturer in personal and corporate taxation for bodies like BKR Antwerp (new Artemis). He regularly delivers lectures to professional organisations and is involved with a series of information sessions provided to clients of private banks and capital managers.

Memberships
As soon as the role of Tax Advisor was granted professional recognition Ivan took membership of the Institute of Accountants and Tax Consultants (IAB). Within this organisation he has served as a member of the jury for the Final Professional Competency Examinations for candidates seeking professional recognition as Accountants or Tax Advisors. Since 1987 he has been an active member of the Association of Professional Accountants and Tax Advisors for the province of Brabant (BAB-Brabant). He is also a permanent member of the fiscal group Leading Edge Alliance.
